Ricki is truly an inspirational example of the heart, intelligence and athleticism of a Black and Tan Coonhound. Known for her exuberance, animation and sense of humor, Ricki began her obedience career in Novice A and earned her UD just 14 months later. She was awarded High in Trial at her first and only AB & TCC National Specialty out of the Utility B class in 2001 at the age of 9. Ricki also has the distinction of being a two-time All Breed High in Trial winner and a three-time All Breed High Combined winner, competing against some of the top obedience dogs in the nation. To date, Ricki has been invited 4 times to compete at the AKC National Obedience Invitational. Her most recent accomplishment was winning the UDX title. Other highlights of her career include 2 first places and the honor of being the first Black & Tan Coonhound to earn an AKC Agility title, serving 2 years as a geriatric therapy dog, a Flyball Championship (another breed first), and the ingenuity and willingness to learn to control and move livestock proficiently enough to be invited to demo at some large public herding events. This upcoming year the amazingly youthful Ricki is working diligently to earn the remaining points needed be awarded OTCh. |
