September 6, 2011 -

Walter is my spirited heart dog of a lifetime and my first Black and Tan Coonhound (B&T) to train for performance events. We have a wonderful time learning and finding our way in various dog sports. Walter’s accomplishments demonstrate his amazing versatility.

He earned his Canine Good Citizen (CGC) in April 2013. Soon after, he began his Obedience career. He earned his Beginner Novice (BN) title in September 2013 with all breed placements of 2 firsts, 1 second and 1 third. Walter earned his Companion Dog (CD) title in June 2014 with all breed placements of 3 firsts, 3 seconds and 3 thirds. Walter was ranked #1 in ABTCC Obedience for 2013 and 2014.

Then we moved onto our favorite, Performance Tracking and the beauty of being outside. Walter earned his AKC Tracking Dog (TD) title in October 2014 and his Tracking Dog Excellent (TDX) title in February 2015. With our performance tracking focus, our next venture was the working dog venue of IPO Schutzhund. Walter passed his BH Obedience Temperament test in November 2014 and earned three tracking titles - FPr1 in December 2015, FPr2 in January 2016 and FPr3 December 2016. Walter is the first B&T to earn IPO Schutzhund titles.

We bounded into Rally Obedience for fun. Walter earned his Rally Novice (RN) title in July 2017 and Rally Intermediate (RI) title in August 2018 with all breed placements in both classes. He earned two legs towards his Rally Advanced (RA) title also with placements. He was eligible for the 2019 AKC Rally National Championship in the RI Class. Walter was ranked #1 in ABTCC Rally Obedience for 2017.

For the joy of it Walter runs a 100 yard dash in Fast CAT (Coursing Ability Tests) and earned his BCAT title in October 2018. Most recently, this city dog earned his Farm Dog Certification (FDC) title in November 2018.

Walter’s reputation precedes him. Judges often greet him with wide smiles while asking if he is that famous B&T they have heard so much about. He has captured the hearts of many.

He is a remarkable ambassador for the breed. Walter loves to travel, explore new places and stay in hotels. Though, his favorite place to be is at home snoozing between the sheets on our king size bed. My husband and I dearly love Walter. We’ve shared so many amazing firsts together and joyfully anticipate the next adventure in our journey.
