Cyrus was such a special dog, from starting out as a big goofy pup to maturing into a magnificent Coonhound. Growing up with longtime Coonhound fanciers Roger and Marie Fredette gave him the opportunity to develop into a bold and beautiful young dog. Cyrus came home in the fall of 2003 due to medical issues in the Fredette home and finished his championship in record time, then off to California for a whole new adventure.
Cyrus started his show career in May 2004 by winning the Pretigious Western Hound Classic Gr 1st, making him the only B&T Coonhound to ever take that honor. He went on to win numerous groups, 5 Best in Shows, was #1 All-Breed in 2004 & 2005, setting yet another record with his litter brother, Clarke. They are the only litter mates in the history of the breed to be awarded #1 all-breed ( Cyrus) and #1 breed (Clarke) in the same year. They are also the only littermates to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Cyrus won the breed at Westminster in 2005 and retired with a AOM the following year. He was supported through his specials career by Shelley Cafferty and always owned and loved by his breeders. Cyrus came home in May of 2006 and sired 2 litters, so far 2 are finished and several pointed.
